IGRK
The interest group called wirehaired Kromfohrländer, hereafter IGRK, is an association of breeders, wirehaired Kromfohrländer.

The IGRK was formed because its founders wanted to use specifically for the needs of the rough-haired variety of the Kromfohrländer.

The main focus lies in improving the health of Kromfohrländer race.
Currently, the inbreeding coefficient of the race is usually over 50%, so can a health-oriented, responsible breeding to take place no more.
The conventional breeding has been exhausted by the way IGRK members in the past.
Much has been made, such as the use of older and unfamiliar dogs, a breeding exchange with Finland, the use of males of all lines ... a breakthrough in improving people s health has not stopped.
According to the IGRK no path leads past a selective crossbreeding of foreign breeds. The only way to improve the quality of the breeding base can be created.
On reaching Mrs. Ilse Schleifenbaum 1955, the recognition of the breed of Kromfohrländer, saw the first standard, written exclusively breeding before a hairy variety of the Kromfohrländer. Since the recognition of the race took place within 10 years, one could assume that the genome was not yet consolidated in this race. This was confirmed by the appearance of uneven Kromfohrländer even after years of recognition.
Lovers this is not described in standard later set by standard variants changes, which had the recognition of other variants to follow.

Besides the hairy variant, there was the shorthaired and longhaired variant of this variant (variant when compared with the hair dachshund, of which there is a wirehaired, a short-haired and longhaired variant).
In this context, it was agreed within the IGRK themselves in the discipline for the originally variety, to choose from Mrs Schleifenbaum beorzugten hairy variant and thus focus on breeding to a single variety.
An extensive discussion among breeders showed that the views were received on the health condition of the race very far apart.

The similarity between all Kromfohrländer is so high that within the breed gene pool, there are no reasonable alternatives pairing. To shut down this gene pool back to a reasonable degree breeding, cross-breeding them with other dogs is a way to combat the high inbreeding.
Can be discussed in this area, whether cross-breeding them to be done with a representative of a single race (or half-breed) or whether the Einkreuzungsprojekt a whole should be placed on a broader basis.
In IGRK farmers have opted for the latter scenario.
To ensure a meaningful development of this project, it was decided in the IGRK use several dogs for the Einkreuzungsprojekt to a potential loss of a pet animal, the target can be useful to pursue further.
What dogs are used for the crossbreeding?
There are both purebred and mixed blood used for this project. Requirement for the use of dogs is their suitability for the goals of IGRK.

Thus, a purely external standard or the presence of the Hairy bearded.
Animals used to be before breeding grunduntersucht veterinary use, and a blood test is needed. In the other IGRK will require evidence that there is no eye disease. This special test must be performed by a specialist, which belongs to the Dortmunder Kreis (DOK). The DOC is a Student of eye doctors in the kennel club, which provided a unified analysis and a central collection of data and their analysis.
Dogs who come to use, will be reviewed by experienced breeders, both in essence and in appearance, the exact data of the animals are taken and recorded.
Where possible, knowledge is gathered about the ancestors and data link processing. However, experience shows that it is almost impossible to get over a dog`s health problems exact information. This is another breed clubs and breeders, for example, the fact that purchasers of dogs from different breeders are nowhere recorded; this is a health feedback and evaluation of such not possible. They would need to be made in the parent club, as the breeders are not necessarily objective in assessing the health status of their breeding.
If the opposite is true, there would be no sick Dog !!!!!

What tools support for the work of IGRK?
The Litter Control
In IGRK all offspring will be reviewed after one year. Thus a complete "picture emerges" from a litter.
It is not just individual animals in an event, as shown by owners who want to use these dogs for further growth, no can, through the presentation of the entire litter to be made both on genetics as well as to the nature of the dogs looking statements.
After five years, an additional litter control takes place, in which the emphasis is on health issues.
The breeding program
Another instrument is the IGRK`s own breeding program.
By Mr. Fabian a software-breeding program was developed which is tailored to the needs of IGRK. This program includes several functions that are essential to the implementation of the breeding project.
In addition to the use of a database that includes all the entries from the Kromfohrländer RZV is on this program also led IGRK their own stud book.
In addition to the calculations of the inbreeding coefficients are kept of all medically relevant diseases in the book and considered pairing recommendations.
The sheets carry all information on breeders, kennel, pedigrees, breeding, diseases, etc., and are of immense value to this extent.
